The peace Jesus gives brings a sense of assurance that no matter what happens, you know that "it is well with my soul." Jesus gives us a peace like the world can never give. It is a peace that doesn't depend on conditions and circumstances. It is a deep seated confidence that comes from knowing that you're God's child and that no matter what may come your way, He remains in control of everything and that He loves you and always has your best interests at heart.

Life is like a roller coaster. Some trips take place in the dark, where things are difficult to distinguish. "Who is among you that fears the Lord, that obeys the voice of His servant, that walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord and rely on His God" (Isaiah 50:10). Yes, even the godly who fear God and obey Him will at times walk where there seem to be no light to guide their footsteps and no warm glow to comfort their troubled senses.

You must remember that troubled times are not times of punishment, retribution, or abandonment. No, they are times when God is working out the next important stage of your development, aligning you for greater advancement in His kingdom. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, men who stood for their faith were ordered to be burned alive for refusing to bow to the king's golden image (Daniel 3). Their faith confession was, "Our God is able to deliver us". They never doubted God's intention and never considered an alternative.
