DISALLOW STRIFE

"Please let there be no strife between you and me...for we are brethren" (Genesis 13:8)

Strife occurs when there is conflict, struggle and rivalry between individuals. The scriptures encourage us to avoid it at all cost. "Let nothing be done though strife...but in lowliness of mind let each esteem the other better than themselves" (Philippians 2:3)

Strife stems from selfishness and self-centeredness which leads to comparing, competing and condemning. You must learn how to recognize and uproot strife before it grows in any relationship you have. Strife can be likened to two people in a sinking ship. One can't sink the other without sinking himself. By seeking to gain the upper hand, you both lose. By seeking to save and strengthen the relationship you both win. Enjoying God's blessings requires living in harmony with one another. Is that easy? No, but the sooner you learn, the better things will be for you.

Strife resolution needs a rapid response on your part. When God prompts you to turn the other cheek or take the short end of the stick, draw on His grace and do it. When you wait to do it on your timetable, you end up doing it in your strength. So forgive those who hurt you, pray for them and bless them by speaking well of them and wanting only good things for them. Your commitment to walk each day in love and forgives will open the door to God's blessings in your life.
