"So Moses thought, "I will go over and see..." (Exodus 3:3 NIV)
Moses was working his regular job as a shepherd when he walked past a burning bush, just like the ones he'd seen a hundred times before. Only this time, the bush was on fire with God's presence. Moses said, "I will go over and see". In another translation it reads,"I must turn aside and look" (NRV). In that moment everything depended on his willingness to interrupt his daily routine, make time for what God was doing at that moment and see things with a fresh outlook.
He could have said "I'm busy" or "I've seen a burning bush before" and kept on going. But He would have missed his calling and the reason for his existence. God wanted to begin a new nation and He needed Moses to lead it. The timing seemed strange. But with God it often does. He did not call Moses when he was a young powerful prince in Egypt. He was called when he was a nobody, a lowly shepherd in a forgotten desert, rejected by his people and a fugitive on the run. Moses even told God, "Nobody knows me, I don't speak well and my track record isn't too good. But God said, "I know your past, and it doesn't matter to me. Your failure and inadequacies are no longer the ultimate truth about you. You are what you are, but you are not yet what you will be - because I will be with you".
Do you need direction in your life? Do you feel forgotten, alone and rejected? Maybe its time to take another look at some things that seem so ordinary and mundane. Just maybe your purpose is tied to what you do or see on a daily basis. It may just require seeing things in a new way. Slow down, turn aside, and listen to God. What He has to say may just be the beginning of a new season in your life that will exceed all your expectations!
Stay above...always.
Yours & His,
