Zacchaeus discovered that you can't be right with God until you're first right with those you've hurt. Joseph discovered that being Prime Minister meant nothing if your family relationships are strained. Relationships are always two ways: if you are feeling hurt, the other person is feeling the same way too. We each carry within us the experiences of our yesterdays and those experiences influence our current relationships, our choices, our view of ourselves and even our understanding of God. You can't live in a spiritually healthy fashion if you have an unmended past with those you've hurt, wronged or betrayed.

Repairing the past is best done immediately God opens your eyes to see the other person's point of view. Don't hold back. Call, write or personally go and ask for forgiveness. Patching up wounded relationships, dealing with festering regrets, and facing up to the fact that you did wrong is one sure way to get that weight off your shoulders. If God asks you to make restitution (repayment, compensation, refund) do so, but mostly what is needed is saying "I am sorry, please forgive me".
