GET A GRIP...ON NEGATIVE EMOTIONS
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Do not fret-it only causes harm.
(Psalm 37:8)
Unless you learn to discipline your emotions, you'll lose credibility, alienate people and miss great opportunities. Your emotions when properly directed can lead to your promotion, but when out of control can cause untold destruction.
When God asked Cain, "Why are you angry with your brother?" He was basically telling Cain to pay attention to his jealousy, resentment, competitiveness and his sense of victim hood. Cain however failed to control his emotions and murdered his brother Abel...crossing a line he couldn't come back from.
Spiritually mature people discipline their emotions. "A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overcome an offense" (Proverbs 19:11). As you go through life people will offend you and arouse deep emotions in you...sometimes it will be deliberate, other times it will be inadvertent. The question is---what are you going to do about it?
Are you one who is easily offended? Do you get angry a lot? Has anxieties and worries become your bed fellows? Are you overly sensitive to what people say or do around you? If any of these describe you, it's time to stop and ask what's happening. It is the flesh trying to take control and lead you towards a destructive path! Refuse to let your flesh dictate to you and you'll be victorious every time..
Stay above...always. Yours & His,
Angela
