Have you ever asked yourself, "What mistakes am I making?" or even better still, "What mistakes do I tend to make over and over again?" You do yourself a great disservice if you don't do a self examination in this area on a regular basis. Now get this very clearly, we all make mistakes. But your goal should be to turn your mistakes to your advantage. It's not the number of mistakes you make - it's what you learn from them!

How do you grow from your mistakes?

• Admit your mistake: Pride and insecurity are the reasons we don't admit our mistakes. We think that admitting to them brings us down a notch in the eyes of people. However people already know about your mistakes and admitting them brings relief...both to you and those around you.

• Accept mistakes as the price of progress: If you never fail, you will never succeed either. So learn to view failure as a healthy, inevitable part of succeeding. When you try to avoid failure at all costs, you never learn. You become stagnant!

• Ask for feedback from trusted friends: When you realize you've made a mistake, seek honest counsel and feedback from someone who can help guide you so you don't make that mistake again. Give them permission to ask hard questions and give constructive criticism. Be careful though to seek out those that truly have your interests at heart. 

The questions for you to ponder this week are these: What is my attitude towards my mistakes? Do I own up to my mistakes? Am I learning from them or do I keep making the same mistakes? Do I have friends who can give me the best input possible?
