So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.
(1 Timothy 6:8 NLT)
Most people are discontent with their lives. They are under immeasurable stress not necessarily because of the problems of life, but because of what they have allowed discontentment to deliver to them. A discontent person will go out and buy what he or she cannot afford because of covetousness and greed. As they continue in this pattern, they soon find out that the stress of having to pay all the bills and credit cards incurred has become too much to bear!
The root of peace, thanksgiving and increase is contentment. Contentment does not connote acceptance of the status quo or the ordinary, it is rather the appreciation of the present in anticipation of the future that you see ahead. We must never run ahead of God in our quest to reach our goals. Never spend more that your earn...that is not only a recipe for disaster but it enslaves you to your creditors all your life.
There is a difference between acceptance and appreciation. To accept your situation means, "I know I will never leave this position, I can never get anything better than this in life." Appreciation on the other hand implies that you value the process of development and growth in your life. Appreciation states: "I value where I am, I know it is not a mistake for me to be here, it is only a process of life and I thank God I am passing through it." That is appreciation and at the root of it is contentment.
You will begin to see increase when you remain content and thankful for where you are right now. The ability to possess more begins with wisdom to appreciate and use the little you have now. Choose to be content, live according to your means and see how God will cause you to increase in life.
Stay above...always. Yours & His,
Angela
