I will sing of mercy and justice... (Psalm 101:1)
Notice the five "I Wills" of David in Psalm101: 1-8
- I will sing of mercy and justice (v.1): David understood and praised God for His mercy and justice. God deals with us that way and He expects the same from us in our dealings with people. God requires that we show mercy (forgiveness) and justice (impartiality).
- I will behave myself wisely (v.2): People are more impacted by your behavior than your beliefs. Your children may not always follow your advice, but count on it; they will follow your footsteps.
- I will walk within my house with a perfect heart (v.3): Your witness starts within your family. If your family thinks you are judgmental, joyless and hypocritical, you will never attract them to Christ.
- I will set no wicked thing before my eyes (v.4): What you allow yourself to look at is very important. If you spend your time looking at God's word, it will build your faith but if on the other hand you look at ungodly things, your spirit man will shrivel up.
- Early will I destroy the wicked (v.8): The earlier you deal with the "little foxes" the better for you. Small, unseemingly harmless habits can become strongholds if they are not quickly destroyed. Don't permit anything wicked into your life.
David lived by these principles and we should too!
Stay above...always.
Yours & His,
