For promotion comes neither from the east nor from the west...but God is the judge: He puts down one and exalts another. (Psalm 75:6-7)
As a believer who is privileged to be both in ministry and in the business world, I have come to a firm conclusion that promotion comes only to the one who is prepared. Promotion happens when opportunity meets preparation. Do you know why God puts down one person and exalts another? It all depends on the level of PREPARATION! When it comes to receiving promotion from God and going to the next level in your life, whether on the job or in the financial, relational or ministerial arenas, there are things you should develop in your life:
- Strive to please God and not man. This means obeying God at every turn and taking the necessary steps to prepare yourself for His best.
- Honor those who are in authority over you (1 Peter 2:18, 19). Maintaining an honorable, submissive and teachable attitude attracts promotion.
- Pay attention to the way you carry yourself: your style, poise and the tone of your voice when speaking to others do matter. Don't be rude, don't look down on people and don't be the one always brewing a conflict. These can cancel a promotion faster than anything. These critical elements can make the difference between standing out or being overlooked.
- Work hard...no matter what you do! Serve with joy and gladness. Develop a spirit of excellence and stay faithful. "Golden" opportunities will not come to the lazy person or the one who does not stick to anything for a long time.
Whatever position you are trying to achieve, do these things and God will notice and He will cause the right people to also notice. Promotion will come knocking on your door!
Stay above...always.
