...you who live in your own light, and warm yourselves from your own fires and not from God's; you will live among sorrows... ( Isaiah 50:11 TLB)
Jesus has started a fire within all of us! A fire deposited at salvation. This fire must be constantly tended... for if it is allowed to dwindle into ashes, the outer person is destined to a life of coldness, struggles, frustrations and sorrows. Simply put, untended fires soon die and become a pile of ashes. Tending the fire means being open in the presence of Christ. It is what makes you long for His likeness, offers direction and stability, and establishes proper motives and responses. The questions you and I must begin to ask ourselves constantly are:
"Is my fire being constantly tended, or are there more ashes than flames"?
"Am I living off of mine or someone else's fire"?
Unattended fires will cause you to begin to rely on a mere human to give you something that is not humanly possible for them to give you. And when they don't you quickly become disillusioned, resentful, bitter, revengeful and even violent! No human being can understand us fully, no human being can offer us constant affection, no human being can enter into the inner core of our being and heal our brokenness. Don't surrender to the busyness, people pleasing, gossiping or any lusts of the flesh that so easily creep on us and starve the spirit. Tend the fire...let it burn with force and let it keep burning!
Stay above...always.
Yours & His,
