...give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. (1Timothy 4:15)
We must not only talk about spiritual discipline, we must give ourselves to it. It is often said that we are the last to see the things others see in us. Spiritual discipline develops the inner man and removes the shallowness from your life. Understand this: spiritual discipline is demanding, very humbling, often done in secret and not always fun. Here is the path to spiritual discipline:
- It means regularly examining your speech, relationships and life choices, then correcting them if necessary.
- It means not talking too much about what you are in to. Talk is cheap. "Just do it".
- It means staying the course while others walk away or make excuses.
- It means there will be times of extreme difficulties and pain, but oh the joy of knowing you are running hard for the finish line!
Listen to Paul: "....I run thus not with uncertainty...but I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified" (1 Corinthians 9:26-27).
Stay above...always.
Yours & His,
Angela
