What a woman says...
This place is a mess! C'mon!
You and I need to clean up!
Your stuff is lying on the floor and
You'll have no clothes to wear if we
don't do laundry right now!
What a man hears...
blah blah blah blah blah C'MON!
YOU AND I blah blah blah blah!
blah blah blah blah ON THE FLOOR blah
blah blah NO CLOTHES blah blah blah blah

~Lubricants and Fertility~
There is much debate over the use of lubricants and their effect on a woman's fertility. The concern is that lubricants make it difficult or impossible to become pregnant. Lubricants do not "kill" sperm; otherwise they would put them on the list of contraceptives! They can, however, decrease the concentration of sperm and their mobility in a woman's vagina.
This topic would be a concern only for a couple who is experiencing infertility issues. If either you or your partner has genetic problems with fertility, there are several ways you can try to increase your chances of conceiving, such as:
- Taking hormones for a hormone imbalance.
- Taking medications to stimulate sperm production.
- Taking an antibiotic to clear up an infection.
- Avoiding long, hot showers and frequent use of hot tubs and saunas. High temperatures can reduce sperm count. It also may help for men to wear boxer shorts rather than jockey shorts.
- Stopping use of lubricants during sex.
- Not having sex every day.
- Getting therapy to treat ejaculation problems.
- Avoiding smoking, which can decrease sperm count.
- Having surgery to correct a disorder in the testicles or to remove a blockage of the tubes that carry the sperm.
However, if you are not experiencing fertility issues, the use of a lubricant during intercourse should not impact your ability to conceive. In fact, it may make intercourse more enjoyable, increasing the frequency of times you try to conceive and, hopefully, leading to a quicker conception.
The use of a lubricant can also help for women experiencing vaginal dryness as a result of stress, anxiety, or fertility medications. Using a lubricant will assist in making intercourse more comfortable and enjoyable for both partners. |
