A FEW WORDS FROM GARY

Dear friends,

"Happy New Year"

What a great year we had at Lukas. All departments met or exceeded their goals for 2011. The shining star this year was the beer department. Domestic beers were down, but craft, specialty and micro beers were way up. Speaking of goals, I have to solicit my customers help with one of our goals for 2012.

Before I ask for your help, I need to inform you that New Year's Eve there will be NO TASTINGS. This is the fourth busiest day of the year. Customers are getting ready to celebrate with friends and family. They want to be served as fast as possible. We need our associates to assist our customers. Another reason we are cancelling all the tastings this Saturday is that we have sampled over 1500 beers, wines and spirits in 2011. If you don't know what you want to buy by now, something is wrong. There lies the goal for 2012 that I need your help with.

Sampling products for free is very expensive. Over 5000 samples were gone through this past year. The problem is that we do not produce the sales a lot of times to justify the cost of the samples. My question to all of our great customers is this; How do we produce more sales to offset the cost of sampling? 2011 was a particularly bad year for the volunteers that do this every Saturday. We have to have your help. Please think about this.

A lot of exciting things are going to happen at Lukas Liquor in 2012. We are all looking forward to providing you with a full service liquor store experience.
