Greetings!

Well, September is gone and now those of us in retail are thinking about the holidays. More appropriately, we're ready for the holidays to be over - we know there's lots of booze to sell before we get to catch our breath (usually somewhere around 10:00 pm on December 31st!)

Still - it was a great summer, and we'd be remiss if we didn't take a moment to remember what we learned and what we drank during the hottest (and, for many of us, BROKEST) summer in recent memory!

Most importantly - we all learned that you don't have to sacrifice QUALITY even though times are a bit tougher that you'd planned for. In fact - my wife and I resolved to eat at home more often, which meant we could drink better wine while doing so!

Hmmm... what else have we learned?

Yes You Can! Drink Rosé And Still Be A Badass
  • No You Don't! Have To Drink The Same Old BORING Wines (even if you can buy them at every drugstore, gas station, grocery store and sandwich shop in the city)
  • Yes You Can! Trust The Guys & Girls Whose Job It Is To Drink - They Know What You Need To Try!
  • Alcohol Is A Luxury Item - You Deserve To Enjoy It!
  •
If you remember these lessons - you WILL have a great and memorable holiday season! We'll see you soon!

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED MAKE THIS YEAR'S EVENT THE BEST AMAZING TASTE YET!

What can I say about this year's Amazing Taste besides THANK YOU?

We've been lucky for the last 3 years and we were blessed each of those years with beautiful weather. This year - not so much...

After slogging through the driving rain for three hours and spreading two truckloads of mulch to alleviate the soggy ground, we decided to move the entire Amazing Taste to the bottom level of the parking garage of The Wildwood Hotel. Without the OVERWHELMING generosity of the city of Wildwod, this last-minute fix would not have neen possible.

THANK YOU Wildwood! Everything we could have wanted (and more) for an event site was at our disposal. Thank you for the beautiful location, for the opportunity to use the parking garage (which made the event possible), for the ice, for the portable toilets, for the tents, for the police detail, for the assistance setting up AND tearing down, for the trash cans, for the equipment storage... Thank You, Wildwood for making this the BEST Amazing Taste Yet!

OF COURSE... we owe a tremendous Thank You to everyone else that donated their time and efforts to the event - including the dozens of volunteers, dozens of suppliers and dozens of vendors who gave up their Sunday to stand in a (LOUD) parking garage and pour wine for over 800 guests. Thank you to EVERY vendor for your generous donations of wine, beer, spirits and also for your time, and your fabulous prizes!

This year we reaised MORE money than we ever have for Angels' Arms. After ALL vendor tables, table donations, ticket sales, patron donations, raffle items and silent auction items, The 4th Annual Amazing Taste raised OVER $40,000.00! This means that, in just 4 short years, The Amazing Taste has raised OVER $100,000.00 for Angels' Arms... and THAT is truely AMAZING!
