Heart Gallery is at Oakwood University Library in Huntsville until April 4, 2010.
In honor of Social Work Awareness Month, Oakwood University is hosting the Heart Gallery of Alabama's exhibit. An adoption information session and reception will be held on Thursday, March 25th at 5:30pm. Registration is free and open to the public. Click here to register. |

Kayla, born in March 1996, is a beautiful, bright young lady with an eye for fashion and an ear for music. Kayla loves singing and dancing. She enjoys sports including softball and volleyball. Kayla also has a heart for animals, ESPECIALLY horses! She has experience taking care of horses and helping to train them. Kayla strives academically when she is encouraged to stay focused. She also has lots of dreams for her future. Kayla says she wants to be a lawyer, an animal cop or a photographer when she grows up.
Marcus, born in March 1997, is a country boy at heart with a skater style. Marcus LOVES the outdoors and spends his summer break swimming and fishing. He enjoys sports and plans to play football in the fall. Marcus's favorite college football team is the Alabama Crimson Tide. Marcus also enjoys recreational baseball. Like many boys his age, Marcus loves video games and has a fascination with technology. His current reading level is a grade above average and his favorite subject is science. Learning about the universe and the planets catches his interest. Marcus does well academically as long as he has help staying focused. Marcus has a tendency to be quiet and shy around adults until he gets to know them.
Marcus and Kayla would need a home that is structured and active. Both children have a lot of potential and would thrive with parents that can guide their energy in a positive direction. They would being in a family and living in a rural area where they can play sports and have animals around. Marcus and Kayla have an older brother and sister whom they love very much and would want to stay in contact with.

J. Michael, born in January 1999 is a highly energetic young boy. He makes A's and B's in school in grades and conduct. In the past he has received special assistance at school for a reading disability but he is on grade level in his reading. His favorite subject in school is math, especially doing division. He thinks he wants to be in the military when he grows up.
Michael is a very active and likes to stay busy. He enjoys swimming, baseball, and riding his bike and scooter. He enjoys boxing and Taekwondo. He also likes to play video games. When he's with his friends he says he likes to play Legos, watch television and ride bikes or swim.
Because of a history of asthma he cannot be placed in a home where smoking occurs, although he can be around some smoke without incident.
Michael has two biological sisters that he maintains contact with. He would like to remain in contact with both sisters. He attaches to care givers easily but he is not a very affectionate child. Michael has expressed that he wants a family that has fun together.

Meet Roderick & Jeremy Photographed by: Angela Karen
Roderick born January 1999 will be in the 5th grade in the 2009-2010
school year. Roderick has excelled extremely high academically and has
been considered for the gifted program in his school district. He does
need medication to help control his hyperactivity. Roderick enjoys
spending time with his younger sibling and he enjoys playing video
games.
Jeremy, born in December 2001 will be in the second grade in the
2009-2010 school year. He enjoys school and exhibits no extraordinary
needs in the area of learning new things. He reached all of his
developmental milestones at the appropriate age. He also needs
medication to help control his hyperactivity. He enjoys spending time
with his older brother and playing with toy cars.
