This is the perfect time for First-timers to attend our monthly Creative Night Session. This month I am changing it up a little bit for the holidays. In the same way the Opus Sorority swaps books and our group brings their recycled items, I invite everyone to bring their unwanted holiday decorations to swap. I KNOW you have at least one box of items you keep shoving back into your closet or attic that you don't use anymore (I have at least 3 boxes myself.) Gather up those decorations you used to love and bring to swap out. Let some else love your old treasures. You might even find a few ones to use yourself. I will have a separate table for everyone to put out their items. At the end, if you want to donate your remaining decor, I will take them to the Women's Shelter in town on Tuesday. I think this is a great way to 1. Clean out your clutter! 2. Keep the once cherished items out of the landfill and into a new home 3. Find a new treasure and 4. The ladies and children at the Women's Shelter will benefit from your trash. Let's swap! (BTY - I have FOUR new boxes of paperback books to swap!)
In addition, all crafters/artist who want to bring their handmade items to swap with others for gifts - bring it! What a wonderful way to get handcrafted items for holiday gifts. Swap out with another crafter or sell your wares - this one night only. I know I have tons of handmade cards I'd love to swap out for something to give.
Regular Creative Night will start at 5:30 for early birds who want to set up and start working. Newcomers, Opus Sorority and everyone joining the swap, arrive anytime after 7PM. As usual, dress CASUAL, stay as long (or as little) as you like and bring a friend!
This month is a great time to work on last minute scrapbooks and holiday gifts. I am going to be finishing up my Christmas cards and hopefully work on my painting that I started 6 months ago!
Finally - Since it's the holidays, I'd like to ask that our regular members bring a small snack to share. Fruit, chips or cookies would be fine. I plan on making some Christmas cookies and let Grace decorate them for everyone. I have plenty of holiday plates and napkins.
