June 2010 Saludos, For 20 years, we've been touching people, changing lives and having an impact on thousands of Latino families. Earlier this year we kicked off our 20th Anniversary by celebrating with nearly 700 friends and supporters at our Annual Benefit Gala. (Take a moment to look at the photos) Throughout 2010 we'll be commemorating our milestone birthday with a wide range of programs and activities. In July, we'll be promoting Latino HIV testing month and presenting a policy briefing on how Latinos are faring in NYC's workforce development system. In August, we will host the 4th Annual Get Up Get Moving event, a day long community health fair which uses Latin dance as a way to promote healthy living. During the summer, we will also continue registering Latinos to vote and offering free Financial Literacy workshops. In September, we are hosting another fabulous fundraiser. Since 2008, Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation has partnered with the Hispanic Federation to deliver Financial Education
workshops that help individuals build confidence in their financial
decision-making. The project educates people on three of the most important decision-making areas: improving money management and budgeting, understanding why and how to save, and how to manage credit and debt. The training is bilingual (English/Spanish) and uses the web based "Hands on Banking" guide. The project has been a great success, helping more than 800 families hit hard by the recession last year achieve greater financial stability.
