Please consider voting for our friend, Patrick McGowan, in the Democratic Primary election in June. I feel he has the background it takes to be Maine's next governor.
As most of you know , his dad, Barney, has been a long-time supporter of our Johnson W. Parks Golf Course. While Pat isn't a member, he is on the course at least once a year playing in the McGowan family's "Open".
His golf game needs work. However, Pat's public service record is one of high achievement - from his years as a legislator, to his position as administrator for the US Small Business Administration in New England, to his most recent post as Commissioner of the Maine Department of Conservation. On a personal level, Pat has had a successful run in operating four small businesses in the Pittsfield and Canaan area. He has repeatedly taken an idea, developed a plan, and seen it implemented.
To take a look at his record and to find out his vision for Maine, go to his website mcgowanfor maine.com. Once there, there is an opportunity to become a Facebook fan and to also donate to his campaign in two different categories.
In order to run as a Clean Election Candidate, Pat must raise two different types of donations: "Seed Money" contributions and "Qualifying" Contributions.
- He must raise at least $40,000.00 in seed money. These gifts can be up to $100.00 from each donor and go toward the McGowan for Maine campaign to fund operations until the campaign "qualifies" for clean election funds.
- He also needs 3250 $5.00 donations to the Maine Clean Elections Fund to meet the "qualifying" requirements.
Thanks for reading this. He needs our support to get on the ballot. Please visit www.mcgowanformaine.com to contribute to Pat's campaign.

THE WEATHER
As most of you remember, the rains of December '08 left a coat of ice on our greens. That ice was the cause of all the winter kill we had this spring.
THE GOOD NEWS to this point is that the rains this December came at a time the ground had not froze. I am hopeful that the water was able to soak into the soil and not form Ice.
The picture is of the X-Country trail we have groomed for anyone to use FREE of charge.
I will keep you posted. |
