Oakland, Fukuoka celebrate sister city anniversary

A number of fun, interesting events were held in Oakland over the last few days to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Sister City Agreement in 1962 between Oakland and Fukuoka, Japan. The events helped celebrate the hundreds of successful cultural, academic, business and youth exchanges that have been accomplished during that time. Fukuoka's Mayor, the Honorable Soichiro Takashima (left) led a delegation of 35 officials and citizens to Oakland for the celebration. Congratulations to Becky Taylor and Mark Morodomi, the co-chairs of the 50th Anniversary Planning Committee, for their hard work and the successful events.

Restaurant Association e-newsletter now available

The Oakland Restaurant Association (ORA) has reached out to our city's restaurants providing education, advocacy, cost-saving measures and marketing, with a variety of restaurant roundtables and open house receptions taking place. Now, thanks to co-chairs Mark Everton (Miss Pearl's) and Michael LeBlanc (Pican), an e-newsletter has become available, which is being sent to ORA members (see it here). Should you wish to begin receiving copies of this periodic publication, contact Amanda Medina at the Chamber at (510) 874-4800, ext. 319 or at amedina@oaklandchamber.com
