Dear Members & Friends,
First Candidate Debate set for August 21st
With some of the most critical elections in recent history coming up in November, the Chamber, as a community service, will host a series of candidate forums during the last two weeks of August. It all gets started with a showdown between the two candidates for City Attorney and continues for three City Council seats as well as an At-Large berth.
The first program is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters and will be held at the Waterfront Hotel in Jack London Square. Like all of the events, it will start at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 6) and is free to the public.
The debates for City Council seats will be hosted exclusively by the Chamber and will be held in locations in the various districts. While the events are free they will fill up fast. To guarantee your spot, contact Paul Junge or Amanda Medina at the Chamber pjunge@oaklandchamber.com or amedina@oaklandchamber.com or by phone (510) 874-4800.
A schedule of the debates follows:
City Attorney, Tuesday, Aug. 21, Waterfront Hotel - Jack London Square
District Three, Wednesday, Aug. 22, Z Cafe - 27th & Broadway
District One, Monday, Aug. 27, College Avenue Presbyterian Church, 5951 College Ave.
District Five, Tuesday, Aug. 28, Fruitvale-San Antonio Senior Center, 3301 E. 12th St.
