Port Commission Appointments -

 

Mayor Quan has announced three Port Commission appointees who the Chamber supports -- as we did the recent appointment of Earl Hamlin, a seasoned financial analyst. The new appointees are:

 

Ces Butner, President, CEO/Owner, Horizon Beverage Company

Brian Parker, Vice President, Davita Inc.

 

Reappointment of:

 

James Head, Vice President, San Francisco Foundation

 

The Port Commission is responsible for thousands of jobs in the Maritime and Aviation Divisions and manages 20 miles of waterfront, assets that need to be guided with business expertise.

 

We recommend the Commission appointments selected by the Mayor be approved swiftly by the City Council

Highway to Work - The Alameda County Youth Employment program, "Highway to Work," is a collaborative effort with the Oakland Private Industry Council and 12 Bay Area partnering organizations offering fully subsidized summer employment for youth ages 15-18. The youth have been pre-identified by the county, and with the help of local business they will be provided with meaningful, worthwhile summer work experiences.
