Dear Members & Friends,
Credit the City Administration for recent accomplishments:
We all deal with managing workload, late developing projects, customer requests and the extra hours it takes to get the job done! From our vantage point it is clear that the office of the City Administrator has had to deal with a substantial number of important projects and has moved them in an efficient way. Extra hours noted!
Just last week three important projects were accomplished. After years of false starts and negotiations the city is ready to move forward with the team CCIG and ProLogis to develop the Army Base site as a world class transportation and logistics project - creating jobs and growth. The city put the finishing touches on the solicitation to select waste and recycling contractors - these are multi-year, multi-million dollar contracts with many moving parts that need to be handled openly and fairly. And millions of dollars of bonding is going out which should put the city on a more sound financial footing, all accomplished with no special notes and no downgrade, which means at lower cost to the city.
We again acknowledge publically the Administrative Team for the City of Oakland led by Deanna Santana, the City Administrator, Fred Blackwell and Scott Johnson.
You can help!
The City Council has a special meeting on Thursday, June 28 at 6 p.m. The primary item is approval of the mid-year budget (July 2012 to June 2013).
We encourage you to call the City Councilmember in your district and strongly recommend support for the proposed Police Training Academies and the addition of an Economic Development Director to better our ability to make business deals and expand the Oakland economy!
God Bless America!
