Dear Members & Friends,

Show your support for the A's

Don Knauss, the chairman and chief executive officer of The Clorox Company, and other local business leaders recently held a press conference to bring attention to the fact that East Bay businesses are willing to support keeping the A's in Oakland. His comments made clear that business will support a team and a new ballpark. And today there's a full page ad in the Oakland Tribune that shows support for the team. Click here to read today's ad.

Now here's a way to show YOUR support - at the box office. Join us for the Chamber Night with the A's as the team meets the New York Yankees on Friday, May 25. And you'll not only have a chance to see two of the hottest teams in the American League, but stay after the game and watch a Coliseum fireworks display. Our seats are perfect - right behind the A's dugout in the Plaza level. Good seats, good game, magnificent fireworks, and good company -- local business leaders showing their support for the A's.

P.S. - Two dollars per ticket will go to the Mayor's Summer Jobs Program!

Contact us today to show your support - Amanda Medina at amedina@oaklandchamber.com or at (510) 874-4800, ext. 319.

Your time will benefit Oakland

A Chamber of Commerce "thank you" goes out to the more than 300 of you who attended our Oakland: Heart of the MegaRegion event last Friday, May 4. We had a great time and the weather could not have been better for our mobile workshops on the bay and along Broadway. For pictures of the event please visit our Flickr page.

State of the Schools Address

The future of our city depends upon the health of our public schools, which is what makes the State of the Schools address by OUSD Superintendent Tony Smith so critical. Dr. Smith will provide updates and highlights of his vision and strategic plan for OUSD - "Community Schools, Thriving Students" on Monday, May 14 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Scott's Seafood Grill and Bar at Jack London Square. Please RSVP to http://tinyurl.com/OECBusinessForum or contact Jennifer Caban at JCaban@oaklandnet.com or at (510) 238-3450.
