Spring is here, a time for new life and growth.  A time for rebirth - so keep an eye out for the fresh new look the studio will be receiving, to give it a warmer, brighter atmosphere. 
 
Also, keep checking our
website for its own spring makeover.
 
Teacher training begins this week at its new home at the beautiful beach-front Fairmont Acapulco Princess Hotel, in Acapulco, Mexico.  Speaking of teachers, we look forward to welcoming some visiting teachers in the next couple months, traveling from as far away as New Zealand and Germany.   
 
And remember, while you're out there enjoying those outdoor sports and activities as the weather grows milder, don't forget to stretch to prevent later injuries....

Doug, Nina and Sue were joined by Lara Mann, Jane Good, Robin Arnold, Christine Plensky, and Yvonne Brosz-DeFoor in Victoria on March 15th at a workshop and class by Rajashree Choudhury.  Rajashree is Bikram's wife, as well as Bikram Yoga's chief trainer of teachers. She possesses a vast knowledge on yoga therapy and physiology.  Doug had the opportunity to get re-certified by her that weekend.  Laura commented that she learned some helpful tips that have improved her practice, such as to keep her hip down and shoulders back while extending her leg during Standing Head to Knee.

Julie's Nursing Students

Bikram Nanaimo hosted two sessions of Bikram's Hot Yoga with 3rd and 4rth year Bachelor of Nursing Students from Malaspina-University College recently. The focus of study for the 3rd year nursing students has been disease prevention and health promotion. Bikram Yoga provided the students with an opportunity to experience an integrative and alternative health practice that serves to promote health and well being. It proved to be very successful and some of the students comments were:

 I have to say that I quite enjoyed the class and though the heat was something to get used to at first, I felt that it allowed me to move more freely and have the ability to get into almost all of the poses. I woke up not feeling well that morning and thought about what you said how the heat helps us to sweat out the toxins so I decided to go anyway. The next morning I barely felt sick and this evening I don't feel sick at all! I will definitely look into joining a class in the near future. (Karli, 3rd Year BSN student)

We truly appreciate your good intentions and that you take your practice seriously.  I came to Nanaimo to teach and to open a studio so I could have a place to practice and to meet others to practice with.  The support of our community and friends helps us all to stay on a healthier path!
