Refreshing the Oscar Mayer brand
I was very pleased when Wallace Church, of New York, came to me to update the Oscar Mayer brand. The creative direction was to retain the equity of this internationally recognized brand, but give it a fresher look.
I started by reducing the weight of the red and yellow bands, because I felt they were overwhelming the letters. I kept the squarish legacy of the letterforms but made the letters wider, and added curves and subtle details, to make them friendlier.
My only disappointment with the project is that I've not yet been invited to ride in the world-famous Wienermobile. NEW: Click here for archived copies of my previous emails. Aloha, John
