A font can be a good place to start, but...
Fancy Feast, the gourmet cat food, was ready for a brand update. The Thompson Design Group kicked off the project by selecting the font Koziupack, and by creating custom "F"s. Then, they called me.
Cat food cans have limited vertical space, so my task was to maximize the impact of the brand, while retaining its grace. To do this, I increased the x-height of the letters, reduced the caps, and brought the two words closer together, refining all shapes for the best fit up. I added weight to the thick strokes for power, but kept the thin strokes gracefully thin.
The heart flourish of the "F" was a wonderful addition by Thompson. It was my pleasure to refine that part of the brand.
A font can be a good place to start, but a brand improves greatly with proprietary elements, and attention to all the details. Call me when your good start needs a
great finish.
