My Secret
Yes, I did the lettering for the new Secret Deodorant brand (in a truly cooperative process with Landor, Cincinnati). And yes, I couldn't resist the play on words. But I do have a point. All of the lettering at left was done for predominantly female audiences.
A couple of years ago, I received a phone call from a woman art director, saying that she wanted me to work on a project geared for women, but others in her office were concerned that, as a man, I might not be able to handle it. Gratefully, my art director prevailed.
"Oh joy!" and "love you" were created for Mrs. Grossman's Paper Co., which supplies wonderful pressure-sensitive stickers for scrapbookers. And "grace, spirited soul sister" was lettered for a Tampax ad.
Well, after all, I do have a mother, a wife and a daughter.
