See the Movie, Read the Book

Lots of the movies in theatres today were based on books.  Make sure you read the book to see where the inspiration for the movie came from, and decide whether you like the movie or book better.  Here are a few titles to check out:

Astro Boy - Astro Boy is a robot with superior powers and skills, as well as human emotions.  Join him in this manga series as he fights crime, robots gone berserk and alien invaders.

Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant - Two best friends visit an illegal freak show, where an encounter with a vampire and a deadly spider forces them to make life-changing decisions.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs - Life is delicious in the town of Chewandswallow where it rains soup and juice, snows mashed potatoes, and blows storms of hamburgers -- until the weather takes a turn for the worse.

Fantastic Mr. Fox - Someone's been stealing from the three meanest farmers around, and they know just who it is -  Fantastic Mr. Fox! The farmers hve joined forces, and they have Mr. Fox and his family surrounded.  Only the most fantastic plan can save him now.

Alex and the Ironic Gentleman
Alex, who lives with her uncle in the apartment above their doorknob shop, isn't too thrilled about going back to school. Luckily the new school year brings an exciting new teacher, Mr. Underwood, who is the descendant of a famous pirate.  When pirates from a ship called the Ironic Gentleman kidnap Mr. Underwood, Alex sets off on a daring rescue mission, and along the way encounters a cast of strange and magical creatures.  Will she be able to rescue Mr. Underwood?  Borrow this book and find out.
