Construction Update
|
Deerfield Road to Close at the Des Plaines River Starting Tuesday, October 19, 2010The following information was released by the Lake County Division of Transportation:
The Lake County Division of Transportation will close Deerfield Road (County Route A-47) in Riverwoods, IL, to through traffic from Illinois Route 21/U.S. Route 45, Milwaukee Avenue to Saunders Road (County Route W-24), beginning at 7:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 19, 2010 for four days. Deerfield Road is scheduled to reopen to through traffic in the evening of October 22, 2010.The closure is necessary to install the Bicycle/Pedestrian Bridge over the Des Plaines River, as part of the construction of a new Bicycle/Pedestrian Path south of Deerfield Road from the Lake County Forest Preserve's Des Plaines River Trail to Thornmeadow Road. This Bicycle/Pedestrian Bridge Project is part of an overall plan to extend a multi-use Path east to Saunders Road.Local traffic will be allowed on Deerfield Road from Milwaukee Avenue to the Deerfield Road Bridge over the Des Plaines River and from the Bridge east to Saunders Road. The Deerfield Road Bridge will be closed to all traffic for the installation of the Bicycle/Pedestrian Bridge. The detour route for this closure is Illinois Route 21/U.S. Route 45, Milwaukee Road to Lake Cook Road (County Route A-50), to Saunders Road (County Route W-24). The END is Near!! Route 22 and Milwaukee Avenue Intersection ImprovementsThe following information was released by the Village of Lincolnshire:
The contractor has completed the construction required as part of Stage 2A. The contractor is now moving forward with the final stage of construction, which includes tying the pavement sections together in the middle of the paved areas, construction of medians, and restoration work. Additionally, while we do not have an exact date at this time, the contractor will be paving the middle of the intersection during the overnight hours, as to not impact traffic.
Due to the nature of this final stage of construction, traffic switching operations will be happening with minimal to no warning. Please pay close attention when driving through the construction zone, as traffic pattern changes may occur throughout the day.
The contractor is on schedule to have the road open to traffic by October 15th. However, the actual completion date for the project may extend to the end of the month due to final punch-list items and restoration work. After the 15th, lane closures will be limited to day time only, but should be expected until the end of the month.
As a reminder, reduced speed limits will still be in effect in this and all construction zones, whether or not workers are present. Drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns and use caution, especially when workers are present. Police agencies have zero tolerance for drivers speeding in work zones. The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375. Posted signs advise motorists of a $10,000 fine and 14-year jail sentence for hitting a roadway worker. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Rob Horne at (847) 913-2366, or via email at rhorne@village.lincolnshire.il.us. As always, the Village will pass along information as it is provided to us.
