I recently had some questionable results from my six monthly check up due to my
bout with cancer in 2009. As a result I had further tests.
I'm so sorry to have to tell you that my PET scan results showed a re-occurrence of cancer. It is in two lymph nodes around my neck and possibly back in my esophagus.
My surgeon said, in summary, that this is not medically curable and he estimates that I could have 6 months to a year without chemo and maybe a little longer with it.
I've always liked to be honest with you, so I have to say when we got this news, it was another 'sucker punch' like the first time we got the news of the original cancer two years ago. It took us a week or so to pick ourselves up off the floor then and it's the same now! We are re-building our faith!
The other option the surgeon spoke of was a miracle, and we will certainly believe for that. If one happens, God will get all the glory after medical science has given up! Either way, He gets the glory anyway!
As a friend, we wanted to keep you informed as we progress. Please feel free to disseminate this news however you may think is appropriate, as our family, close friends and ministry associates have been informed.
Due to uncertainty, we decided it would be prudent to postpone our trip to the Philippines, which you can imagine was very difficult for me to do.
In the meantime, I'm going to just push on regardless, as long as I can!
However, there are several ways you can make a difference.
1) We would kindly ask you to be active in prayer and to alert others you know who would faithfully pray for a miracle.
2) Melva and I would also appreciate your kind consideration of standing with us with financial support because of the uncertainty surrounding my ability to ministry, which is where 95% of our support comes from.
