Special Health Update:
Good News and Surprising Not So Good News
|
Greetings! ,
Last Monday, January 18th, I had my first 6 monthly CT scan to make sure there is no reoccurence of cancer.
A few days earlier, I also had blood work done, which proved to be clear, thank God! I had the CT scan at 3pm and had just returned home when I received a call from my surgeon. It was unusual to hear back so quickly so I new something was not right!
He said that the scan had shown that there was no cancer, which was great news, but that it had picked up two blood clots in my lungs! He said I had to go to the local ER immediately. I was admitted to hospital and a second scan the next day confirmed two small clots were present. I was put on serious blood thinners and remained hospitalized until Thursday.
The amazing thing was I had none of the usual symptoms, such as shortness of breath, chest pains or swelling in the legs, however, the clots were probably a side effect of the treatment I have had over the last year, so most likely had been there for some time! So it has been good news and not so good news!
Our ministry schedule came under threat, especially our Australian and New Zealand trip in February, however, with taking appropriate measures, we have been cleared to go!
We had already cancelled our previous trip 'down under' a year ago because of the cancer diagnosis and fought all year long with the airlines to keep our airfares for this year. Plus, I haven't seen several of my children down there for three years!
Prayer Points: I deeply appreciate all your prayers to keep me cancer free! Please continue to pray that these clots will disolve with no further problems and for total restoration of my health.
Apart from prayer, it is crucial that you continue to stand with us financially as we continue to get our ministry back up on its feet.
