Health Update: Benefit, Heart Procedure, The Next Step
|
Greetings!,
I hope all is well with you.
Since I last wrote to you I have been slowly recovering from the surgery six weeks ago. I would say that my strength has come back to about 65% of normal so far.
Also, as I mentioned previously, I have had three incidents of tachycardia (fast heart beat) as a result of irritation of the nerves around the heart after the surgery.
Well, this Wednesday, June 24th, I am having an Electrophysiology Study (EPS) where they will insert an electrode catheter into a vein in my leg and guide it to my heart where they will map out the electrical circuits. They will be looking for any abnormalities and singe any found. Oh, joy!!!
Some good news! This last Friday, the Church of Grace and Peace (our home base) hosted a benefit dinner on my behalf. About 130 attended including many pastors from the region. One precious young pastor and his wife drove all the way from Ohio. Many local companies and restaurants sponsored the event.
I was so encouraged by the expression of love and support by all there. It will help me get through the next step.
In about two weeks, I will begin the next round of chemo. I will be having the same dose as before (two weeks on, one week off and then two more weeks). This will take up all of July and part of August, with recovery time stretching into September and beyond.
To be honest, I would rather have the surgery again than the chemo. It is totally debilitating, however, the one affected lymph node is an important element behind this further treatment. According to the doctor, It will increase my chances of survival over the next few years.
Prayer Points: Pray for increased strength to my body and a successful procedure with my heart this Wednesday. Also, pray for the grace to bear the next round of chemo.
It is a real encouragement and inspiration to know you are there for us. We really need you to to continue to stand with me as I walk through this to victory! We have quite a way to go yet, but having you with us is a great comfort.
One time donations are greatly appreciated, however monthly support is crucial to get us through this period so that we will be able to continue our mission.
We appreciate you standing with us in prayer and support!
