Health Update: Way Down But Not Out!
|
Greetings!,
I am overwhelmed by the number of emails, cards and letters we have received regarding the challenging issue I continue to face with cancer in my esophagus. It has taken me many days to respond with thank you cards and letters.
The shower of love and support from all over the world has been a tremendous encouragement. As I said in the last update, faith, family and friends are the most important factors in surviving something like this.
Having said all that, this last week of chemo has been diabolical! It has robbed me of all vitality and it has been a real struggle to get through each day and keep my joy.
My blood count has been way down (the good immune cells that fight off infection). This morning I was due to go for the final dose of chemo in this series, however the count was so low it had to be postponed until next week when, hopefully my body will recover and be stronger. The radiation continues 5 days a week
I was recently told that depending on what they find when I have surgery on the esophagus (planned for mid May), there may be three more rounds of post operative chemo!
Prayer Point: Please pray that this won't be necessary as it will extend my down time by several months, and that the Lord will give me the grace and strength to endure all of this.
Melva has been exemplary in her support though this trial. Having canceled nearly all her ministry plans for this period, an international ministry friend of ours recently made a very generous donation to her ministry too. This was a real encouragement and helped to cover some of her expenses during this down time
I am deeply grateful for everyone who assured me of their prayers and are sending financial support at this time.
One time donations are greatly appreciated, however monthly support is crucial to get us through this period so that we will be able to continue our mission.
We appreciate you standing with us in prayer and support!
