Free Minds Book Club Free Minds' new initiative BAM! Books Across the Miles created with the help of a generous grant from the National Society Daughters of the Revolution allows Free Minds to reach the DC youth that are transferred to federal prison's around the country after turning 18. Follow @FreeMindsDC On June 24, Author Michael Mattocks of Unlikely Brothers shared his story of personal transformation with a rapt group of young readers at a DC Jail. Perry Center, Inc. Perry Center's Annual Community day and BBQ was this past Saturday, August 6th. Catch up with Perry Center on their Facebook page and learn more. Perry Center's Team Up event: November 5, 6:30-10:30 pm. An evening of fun, dinner, trivia, a live and silent auction and philanthropy at National Education Association hosted by the Business Advisory Council. Parklands Community Center Parklands Community Center just wrapped up Camp Parklands on August 5th. Eighteen children from the Villages of Parklands aged 5 to 13 participated in positive and constructive activities all summer long. Resources for Inner City Children (RICH) RICH completed their first ever summer program at Oxford Manor Community Space in Anacostia throughout July. Uplift, Inc. Uplift held their first Annual Robotics Summer Camp, introducing 21 students ages 5-10 to robotics, computer programming, creative-problem solving, and design. Check out the summer blog
