Greetings!
We hope this month finds all our clients and contacts gathering steam for another profitable year.
Having survived the new year 'hangover' stage and hopefully become supercharged for the challenges ahead, you will appreciate advice on maintaining attention to daily priorities.
|
|
When you log on at the start of your day, are you presented with an accurate snapshot of your commitments and priorities?
Your own staff dashboard should show all your obligations for the day with a quick reference to the information needed to achieve them: - links to current projects - timesheets - reminders - items to approve etc.
Your calendar should display; your day, week, and month in as much detail as you demand to help meet your deadlines and keep appointments.
We don't all have the same requirements when it comes to getting a picture of our day. Recognising our needs by what is reflected on our screen as a first view means holding our attention and having the system work for us.
For example, creatives may prefer their dashboard to display only their tasks, timesheets, and any notes for the day, where a finance manager will more likely opt for a list of all active projects, items to approve, and a breakdown of the billable and non-bilable time, and a sales manager may include a graph showing the ratio of repeat business to new business etc. Dashboards should be tailored to maintain the attention of the user - within their security access limits of course.
Too much irrelevant information causes a 'blank out', cancelling out the benefits of the reminders which can then be ignored. So, never underestimate the power of a well-used calendar and scheduling system. The capability of allowing your calendar to be viewed and managed by others compounds the need to keep it up to date and accurate. Letting down your colleagues, or worse, your clients, causes embarassment and lack of confidence, and while we are only human, a good organiser makes us a more respected human.

And let's not forget to use the system for positive reinforcement as well. A recognition note on a project well done, a glowing reaction from a happy client, an announcement of birthday cake cutting, all add to the interest and appreciation of a good attention-getting system.
Great, all this good advice and who has the time to make it happen! Well, you could start by scheduling it in the calendar.
Wishing you a productive and organised month.
Sincerely,
|

HELP! - Tip of the Month
Your
employees are more 'engaged' if they are managing their systems well
and are able to take advantage of all the functions that make life easier. It is more economical to invest in your existing staff
than to lose them and have to re-employ and train new members from
scratch. You create the double benefit of a more capable and a more
loyal team member. |

About Us
Our
director, Rondelle Taylor, has ten years experience as the financial
controller of a medium sized agency, handling a wide variety of project
types and sizes. Recognising the problems of not having an
adequate system for project management, profit tracking, and the need
for integration of separate systems (excel, word, and myob etc.) led to
the current consultancy role. A detailed analysis of available software solutions has enabled Software Downunder to recommend a system to best fit your needs. |
About You
You
need the software solution that suits the size of your business and the
complexity of your projects. If your projects are simple and you
currently have less than 10 people handling them, your software
requirements may be simple also. Speak to our consultants about
alternative software packages for the best fit. |
