SOS
Teen speaks up to DC Council;
will you send a message too?

A participant in Playtime's Teen Night recorded this video:

After hearing his powerful message, please sign HCPP's Change.org petition and share it far and wide! Our goal is to get 1,000 signatures before May 10th.

Then, join families living at DC General and advocates on Thursday, May 10th from 10-12am for a final action and protest! Come play a part - email tom.hcpp@gmail.com if you can join us!

It's up to all of us to urge DC Council to pass a budget that protects all DC residents!

To kick off this month's around the world in Playtime adventures, Park Road kids used chopsticks to eat orange slices and edamame for snack!

Teens Cook Dinner at DCGeneral...Without a Kitchen!

To celebrate the quickly approaching end of the school year and say goodbye to some wonderful volunteers, Teen Night held a "family dinner" style feast last Wednesday. Everybody pitched in to mix, cook and improvise - and got to try some delicious new treats!

One 12-year old wowed everyone with his burger-making skills!

Help start two new Playtimes
in Anacostia!

Playtime is so excited to expand to Southeast DC to bring programs to Valley Place Apartments and
SOME's Griffin House, starting in the end of June. We're searching for at least 15 volunteers to help us blaze this new path!

Help make Playtime happen for a new group of kids!

Volunteer on Monday or Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30pm. A car or comfort using the bus is necessary (both sites are easy to drive to, but aren't close to a metro station).

Read about how much fun it is to volunteer with Playtime in this Washington Post article!

Tiome and shoes
Happy Hour This Monday (5/7) for Girls on the Run Team!

Last week, Track and Field Olympian Tiombe Hurd visited Playtime's Girls on the Run team to help hand out their brand-new running shoes for the upcoming 5k race in June!

Whether it was discussing how to get along with a teammate or how to practice the "grapevine" drill, Tiombe had lots to share with the girls.

We hope you'll join us this Monday, May 7th for a happy hour to raise funds to transport girls to the big 5k race, allow their parents to sign up to run with them and purchase snacks.
See you there!
