Happy Holidays!

Dear Friend of Children:

"Zania," a nine-year-old girl who loves animals, has lived at the largest family homeless shelter in the city since last February - nearly one year. Since then, every Tuesday and Thursday night, Zania attends Playtime. Thanks to Playtime volunteers and donors, this budding zoologist received a scholarship over the summer to attend Zoological Camp at the National Zoo and will be receiving holiday presents and clothing this winter.

For too many children, the holidays can be a reminder of what's wrong in their lives: no home to celebrate in, no extra money for gifts. Yet, the Homeless Children's Playtime Project provides a safe haven for kids to experience the joys of childhood during the holidays and throughout the year.

To see Playtime in living color, watch our video here!

Individual donors like you still provide the majority of our funding that makes it possible for us to provide eight playtimes and one teen program each week in five housing programs.

Your donation can help Playtime in the following ways!

  • $30 funds a healthy snack and veggies for 40 children
  • $50 funds transportation for 15 children to attend a Saturday field trip
  • $100 funds training for 20 volunteers, arming them with child development research
  • $250 funds a celebrity visitor to Playtime, like professional athletes, theater groups, or musicians
  • $500 funds the purchase of art supplies for one shelter program for one year

Please consider including the Playtime Project in your end-of-the-year giving this holiday season. This holiday, remember the hundreds of children your donation will spread joy to through the gift of play, all year long!

Warmest holiday wishes,

Other Ways to Help This Holiday Season!
Volunteers and donors are busy planning holiday celebrations for December. Here's how you can help us make the holidays special:

1. Donate a gift store for parent goodies! Set up a shop of little gifts for children to pick out for their parents to give them over the holiday.

2. Donate a Christmas Tree!

3. Play Santa for the day! We are looking for drivers to help deliver gifts to our shelters on Saturday, Dec. 17.
