HAPPY VALENTINES DAY PLAYTIME FRIENDS!
Children enjoy Faction of Fools performance at D.C. General | |
The cold wind outside can't stop the love and fun taking place inside Playtime's doors!
Children at DC General laughed themselves silly with a visit from Faction of Fools, a Renaissance- style comedy drama troupe who put on an interactive performance. What a blast!
DASH's newest crew of children got to know each other at Playtime after moving into their new home. Two eight-year olds realized that they were neighbors as they returned to their rooms after playing together on Saturday morning.
Bubbles were a blast in Turning Point's baby room! Meanwhile, the preschoolers learned how to make butter last night, which they happily whipped and spread onto delicious bread...yummy!
NCFN children got a special private performance from two classical musicians. After that inspiration, the group is getting excited for their upcoming recorder lessons this month!
Park Road toddlers are filling up the newly restored and stocked playroom! An enormous bookcase, brightly colored wall decals and beautiful new toys and furniture were donated by volunteers from Adas Israel Congregation. What a success!

Want to do MORE? Here are some extra opportunities for you to get involved:
| |
1. Donate to HCPP's DC General Clothing Drive! Seasonally appropriate, stylish clothing for infants through adults. No accessories, please. We especially need coats, NEW socks and underwear, laundry bags, and shopping bags for parents to fill with clothing as they "shop." Please donate by February 20. Thank you for spreading the word!
2. Volunteer at DC General's Clothing Drive!
We need volunteers to help sort clothing on February 23 from 8:30-9:30, and/ or to help distribute clothing on February 24th from 6:30-8:30 pm at DC General. Email kathleen.hcpp@gmail.com to rsvp.
3. Shop to support HCPP! If you're online shopping anyway, send a little love Playtimes' way! An HCPP volunteer set up an iGive.com account to benefit Playtime when you shop online at 833 participating stores - and you don't spend an extra penny to do it! Once you sign up through this easy link, if you make a purchase within 45 days of joining, they'll donate $5 to HCPP!
4. Help Conduct a Survey of Homeless and Unstably Housed Youth with DCAYA! The District Alliance of Youth Advocates is conducting a survey and they need volunteers to make it happen. Read about it here to get involved: http://www.dc-aya.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=7

At "Club Playtime" on Jan. 28, volunteers had a great time hanging out in Tabaq Lounge instead of a playroom! Thanks to everyone that came out, we had a lot of fun with you and thank you for your amazing commitment week in and week out. Playtime could not exist without you!
Tell your friends! We are still recruiting volunteers:
Our next training will be on Wednesday March 9, from 6:30-9:00pm. Email Lana for more info!

We are Hiring a Teen Program Coordinator! Do you know any good candidates??
| | We are looking for an energetic, experienced and passionate leader to spearhead our new teen initiative! This will be an 8-10 hr/week position with a stipend, perfect for a graduate student in the field!
Please spread the word and email lana.hcpp@gmail.com for more information. |

WHO INSPIRES YOU?
| |
We want to get the word out about our wonderful volunteers and supporters. You all work important jobs, are in school, and take care of your own children and then still find time to dedicate to the Homeless Children's Playtime Project's mission. We are seeking nominations for volunteers and donors to spotlight in our first annual report.
Please send ideas to Lana, so that we can tell the stories of the great force that makes HCPP run! |
