Aigler Memorial Recently Renovated in Perry Park
John Aigler's grown children, Jane D'Angelo, Joan Lancaster and John, have honored their father by supporting a renovation of the Aigler Memorial in Perry Park. The area, located along the lakefront, was recently transformed into a viewing terrace overlooking the Lake Erie Islands.
Four generations ago, the Aigler's great, great-grandparents began the family's Lakeside tradition, traveling more than 100 miles by horse and buggy from Delaware, Ohio, to visit the Chautauqua community. Years later, their great-grandparents boarded the train in Delaware and arrived with their belongings at the Lakeside-Marblehead Train Station. The family would pitch three tents in Central Park--one for women, one for men and one for dining. Read more...

Religious Life
Chaplain of the Week: The Rev. Colin Honey
The Rev. Colin Honey is a bioethicist and an ordained minister of the Uniting Church in Australia. He was trained as a philosopher at Melbourne University, as a theologian at Cambridge University and as a bioethicist at Edinburgh.
He has worked as a broadcaster and commentator on radio, television and in newspapers. As an educator, he has taught university students, doctors, nurses, lawyers, senior police officers, legislators, business leaders, clergy and bureaucrats in several countries.
Currently, the Rev. Honey ministers in one of the most socially deprived areas of inner-Melbourne--among refugees from Sudan, Ethiopia and Vietnam, as well as homeless, unemployed and substance abusing Anglo-Australians. His ministry includes giving testimony in the law courts and explaining the customs and cultures of the immigrant groups.
While at Lakeside, he will talk about big ethical issues: cloning, stem-cell research, buying human organs for transplants, health insurance premiums for pre-existing conditions, refusal to treat "self-inflicted" lifestyle diseases, biological warfare and reducing living standards in the West so that developing countries can improve living standards.
His theme for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Hoover Worship Service will be "Faithful Stewardship." In addition to leading Chaplain's Hour throughout the week, held at 9:15 a.m. in Orchestra Hall, the Rev. Honey will lead two educational seminars on ethical issues. (See Educational Seminars section below for more information.)
