Week Five
The fifth week of the 135th Chautauqua season brings anticipated entertainment from Sandi Patty to "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood. Learn more about the community as Lakeside presents seminars about the history of the Chautauqua Movement. Read on to find out about other spiritual, educational, cultural arts and recreational activities for the week.

Chaplain of the Week:
The Rev. Joyce Fry
ChaplainLakeside welcomes the Rev. Joyce Fry, a United Methodist minister currently serving as Administrative Assistant to West Ohio Conference Bishop Bruce Ough. The West Ohio Conference has entered into four partnerships with the United Methodist Church in the Russia Volga District, the Oriental Conference in Mexico, the African-North Katanga Conference of the Congo, and in South East Asia. The Rev. Fry's primary involvement has been to strengthen the South East Asia partnership with a focus on Cambodia and Vietnam. Her focus for the week will be the development of the church in these areas, especially in relation to her theme: "Gospel Live - In Vietnam." Rev. Fry will be assisted in her presentations and dialogue by the Rev. Linda Hedden, also United Methodist clergy, who before ordination worked with the Veterans Administration. Joyce's Sunday morning Hoover worship sermon is: "The Basic Rhythm of Life: Life, Death and Resurrection."
Seminars: Historic Chautauqua Week
This week celebrates the history of Chautauquas and includes the 5th Annual Vearl Smith Historic Building Design and Preservation Seminars listed below. This week is funded in part by the Ohio Arts Council. The Ohio Arts Council helped fund this program with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.

The largest all-brass and percussion college alumni band in the United States will dazzle audiences with its melodic notes of patriotic and OSU songs. The evening is a crowd-pleaser with jazz, marches, big band and other contemporary hits, combined with favorites such as "Hang on Sloopy" and "Buckeye Battle Cry."

Hoover 'Classic' Movie Night: Swiss Family Robinson

Enjoy the humorous skits and quick wit of ventriloquist and comedienne Lynn Trefzger. A former Star Search contestant, she has been perfecting her skills since 1977 with dummies, puppets, inanimate objects and innocent bystanders.

Rhythm in Shoes Dance Companyryth and shoes
The engaging traditional and original dance and music of Rhythm in Shoes Dance
Company will take the stage with their movements drawn from swing, tap, old-time tunes and clogging. Sandi Patty 
Famed Christian singer Sandi Patty presents a repertoire of dynamic hymns and classics reflecting her own stories of joy, struggles and peace. Her impressive professional career has spanned three decades with award-winning albums and nationwide performances that reflect her walk in faith from childhood through today.  This presentation is supported by the Performing Arts Fund, a program of Arts Midwest funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art, with additional contributions from Ohio Arts Council, General Mills Foundation, and Land O'Lakes Foundation.

"Whose Line Is It Anyway?" with Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood
Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood, stars of the Emmy-nominated "Whose Line Is It
Anyway?" return to Hoover Auditorium for a live encore performance. Together, Mochrie and Sherwood make a dynamic duo with their quick wit and innate reflex of performing on their feet. The evening will be entertaining with extraordinary improvisational comedy including contributions from the audience to create hilarious and original scenes.

Family Night in the Park will celebrate family, children and the glory of God with Sprout & Shout. The leaders of Lakeside's MGM, the Wilkies have entertained all children of God, ages 2-102 at children's church, picnics and Vacation Bible School with their timeless truth of God's love.

The Lakeside Women's Club 52nd Annual Tour of Homes will feature five Lakeside homes and cottages, one beautifully restored room in the venerable Hotel Lakeside, Green Gables, the home of the Lakeside Women's Club, and a visit to the Heritage Hall Museum. Maps will be included in the Tour Ticket pamphlet and the cost is $10 per person. The gate fee cost is $10 per person.

Member of the Detroit Puppeteers Guild, Rick Morse Puppets is one of the Midwest's leading producers of professional children's theater.

Raccoon Run  
Join the race on Sunday morning, July 20 for the annual Raccoon Run. The one-mile walk/run begins at 8 a.m. at Orchestra Hall. Runners will begin the 5K at 8:30 a.m. Spectators and cheerleaders are appreciated along the race route. C. Kirk Rhein Center for the Living Arts holds an open house every Sunday afternoon
 1-3 p.m. during the Chautauqua season.  This gives students a chance to visit, meet the artists, check out the projects for the week, and sign up for classes.
