| Greetings!
We hope that this note finds you well and enjoying the holiday season!
We don't like to report sad rescue happenings and ALWAYS try to see the positive side of things. Today we are posting Crockets story - sad, but with (we hope and pray) a happy ending in the works!
Read on - the rest is happy, I promise ;o)

Crocket Was Near Death...
| | Click photo to read more about Crocket. |
when we got the call early Friday morning that a horse was literally starving to death and needed to be moved or he would be "disposed of" - (so they starved him & now wanted him gone to be rid of evidence, I am guessing) we acted immediately to save him.
Thanks to Mattie's Legacy Fund, quick action by hauler Joe Renner and a spot for him with Foster Mom Deanne, we were able to get him to safety on Friday.
Due to conflicting reports from the former owners (he has since been surrendered to Angel Acres), boarding farm owners and neighbors we do not know who is responsible for his condition.
What we do know is that MANY neighbors threatened to call the authorities, however, NO ONE did - simply because they knew the farm owners and didn't want to get them into trouble. For their silence, this horse suffered horrifically...his story is here.
This is a prime example of why we need our readers to speak up if they see a horse in need. Do NOT be afraid to make that call, you could save a life and if there isn't anything wrong there is no harm in checking it out.
Some folks have expressed interest in donating to his care, if you would like to contribute to his care, donations can be made to Mattie's Legacy Fund or to him directly via Network For Good - note Crocket in the memo section. Next update on his progress will be tomorrow morning's blog (one week after rescue) post with more details about his story - Foster Mom Deanne will be taking new pictures, too. We will send out a follow up newsletter for you to read, too. |
