Happy Thursday! The weekend is almost here and tt's been yet another crazy and exhausting week at the rescue!
We still need more hay; its our biggest expense as we go through about 16 bales of hay each day to feed all of the rescue horses. Additionally, we feed grain and haystretcher for special feeding needs, like Bandito.
We have set up a hay fund specifically for hay and we have a link on the left for anyone who has extra hay that they would like to donate to us.
If you'd like to make a donation for hay, no amount is too small, just click the Network For Good button below and write "hay" in the designation box. Actually, Lesley will be here with her second donation of hay 25 bales in about an hour!

Starved And Left For Dead

Bandito is recovering and has gained about 30 lbs so far...his recovery is slow going but is steady.
He is shown here resting in his dry-lot, he cannot be on grass yet due to the starvation he suffered at the hands of his torturer.
He will recover and become the amazingly gorgeous horse he once was. You can see what he looked like one month BEFORE being given away by clicking here ...we were shocked to see this picture and it really took us a few minutes to grasp that it was the SAME horse.

Mattie's Legacy Fund
April 25, 2010 marks the one year anniversary of Mattie's passing...since then we have started Mattie's Legacy Fund in his honor. This fund assists horses and horse owners in need...since its inception in July of 2009, Mattie's Legacy Fund has assisted over 70+ horses in need of emergency assistance all over the country. Keeping these horses either in their homes, out of the auction house or moved to the safety of a new forever home.
We are hoping to meet our fundraising goal for Matties Fund by April 25, 2010. Please click here or Mattie's Portrait to learn how you can help us meet our goal, we are less than $400 away!!!
It would be AMAZING to meet this goal before then...and would allow us to continue to reach out to horse owners in need...there was no bailout for horse owners, so Mattie's Fund is the next best thing!
