We are really excited to start a new activity at DeFrank: Yoga! Join us every Saturday morning starting this weekend, July 11th, from 11am to noon for a chance to relax and exercise. Transgender Youth Study

Youth Interviews

We are conducting 1-2 hour personal interviews with youth and young adults between the ages of 15 and 24 who identify as transgender or genderqueer.  You can use any name you want, and what you say is confidential.  We will ask you questions about your experiences and relationships.

Parent/Guardian Interviews
We are also conducting 1 hour personal interviews of parents and/or guardians of transgender youth.  If you think your parent or guardian might be interested, have them contact us!  They will be interviewed separately, and a parent's participation is not required for you to be part of the study.

San Francisco Public Library is offering 3 youth paid internship opportunities in event planning, organizing, outreach and participation for an event on Friday October 16th 2009 6:00-9pm at the Main Library.
 
Details
· Application deadline: July 16th, 2009 5pm
· Work Dates: July 27th to October 25th 2009
· Hours required/weekly schedule: varied and flexible, afternoons/evenings 2-5 hrs per week
· Stipend: $500-offered in 2 payments (August 31st, October 31st)
· Position Location: San Francisco Public Main Library, 100 Larkin St SF CA
 

Primary Responsibilities:
· Attend and organize event planning meetings for an event called Teen Quake, a literary arts performance extravaganza at the Main Library for teens in October 2009.
· Work closely on a youth intern team and lead youth volunteers.
· Contact planning organizations, performers, educators, and youth participants.
· Conduct outreach in the community; create publicity information; post flyers
· Work at the event on Friday October 16th from 5-9pm at the Main Library. 
· Recruit youth volunteers and performers
· Assist with mailings and online publicity
 
Qualifications:
· Must be 15-21 years of age
· Live within the SF Bay Area
· Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment
· Must be punctual, attend regular meetings, and maintain excellent relations with youth and adult planners
· Strong communication skills
· Preferred: experience planning events and involvement in literary arts organizations

Camp Ten Trees

Scholarships
1. The Los Angeles-based California Community Foundation has announced scholarships totaling nearly $105,000 to help thirty-eight students attend college. The gifts, ranging from $500 to $10,000, are supported by the Adiba Shaby Scholarship Fund, which is administered by the foundation.
