"It was 1969, on a hot New York City summer night - the hottest June night in history. The police had just raided one of the only places in New York City where same-sex couples could dance together, a crappy Mafia club with watered-down booze and a sideline in blackmail.

The cops didn't expect any resistance at all. It's not like this was the first time they'd raided a gay club or even this particular club; this was their second raid on the Stonewall Inn that week. Their normal procedure was to check IDs, make a few token arrests, and send people whose gender they weren't certain of into the restroom for examination by a policewoman...."

Summer Media Camp for youth ages 11-17, SF

BAYCAT Summer Media Camp is a fun educational experience that focuses on producing a TV show, animation shorts, theater art pieces, music and vocal performances, fieldtrips and presentations by Bay Area media talent and artists, and personal manifestos regarding social justice issues.

YANC(Young Audiences of Northern California) is seeking interns for 2009-10! 10-20 hours per week

Camp Ten Trees
for LGBTQ Youth and Youth of LGBTQ Families

Camp Ten Trees is a non-profit summer camp in the Pacific Northwest featuring a week for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth and their allies, and a week for children of LGBTQ families.

Scholarships
1. The Los Angeles-based California Community Foundation has announced scholarships totaling nearly $105,000 to help thirty-eight students attend college. The gifts, ranging from $500 to $10,000, are supported by the Adiba Shaby Scholarship Fund, which is administered by the foundation.
