LGBT Youth - Speak Out About Your School Experiences!
|
Help GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian
and Straight Education Network) inform education policymakers and the public
about what's really going on in our nation's schools by completing the 2009
National School Climate Survey, GLSEN's sixth national survey about the
experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth in school.
If you attended high school or
middle school sometime during the last school year (2008-2009) and are at
least 13 years old, tell us about your experiences in school. (If you
did not complete the entire school year you are still eligible.) The survey
is completely anonymous.
For more info and to complete the
survey online, visit: www.glsen.org/2009survey
(Please submit by the end of May)

HIV and GLBTQ Asian Pacific Islander (API) Youth
|
..."But we can develop a better sense of our vulnerability to HIV by
reviewing the statistics, while also paying attention to the many
cultural components that we have as API American Queer Youth.
One
important statistic is that we are the fastest growing minority
population in the United States[5],
and with that, we have the highest rate of growth in AIDS compared to
all other races. The number of cases is doubling each year[6].
So just glancing at the statistics, there is a risk.
But what do
statistics on API Americans really mean? Even if there were no problems
of under-reporting, our diversity would not be addressed and thus the
statistics would loose their validity. "
