Children's Meditation Courses:
March 22nd & April 11th
(Ages 8-15)
children meditationWe are very happy to announce the following one-day children's courses in the Bay Area.

Date: Sunday, March 22nd 2009
Age Limits: Children 8 to 15 years old
Location: Berkeley, CA (Address is provided after registering for the course)

Date: Saturday, April 11th 2009
Age Limits: Children 8 to 15 years old
Location : Joaquin Miller Middle School
6151 Rainbow Drive, San Jose, CA 95129
(Pre-registration is required)

These courses are open to all children aged 8-15 years old. During the course, the children learn how to practice Anapana meditation, which is the observation of the natural breath to concentrate the mind, while observing the five precepts. The course and timetable have been specifically designed for children.

Children from all different communities who have started practicing Anapana have realized many benefits. Their ability to concentrate becomes enhanced, their memory gets sharper and they become calmer. In general, they feel that have a practical tool to use in the face of any type of challenge.

If you know of any children who would be interested in attending a meditation course designed specifically for them, please visit the children's course website for more information: click here: http://www.mahavana.dhamma.org/public/courses/children.htm

For more information, please contact childrens-courses@mahavana.dhamma.org

Although it is not necessary that a parent or guardian accompany the child to the course, it is important that the child chooses to attend the course willingly.

In the words of some children who completed the course:

"I like this course because I like playing outside, playing with clay. We also did tie-dye. I also like this course because it seems like I'm at home and the food is so good."

"At school if I need to concentrate on what the teacher is doing or saying I can use Anapana. And if I am mad and angry I can use Anapana."

"I learned that I like meditating because it makes me feel relaxed."

Best wishes, Children's' Course organizers
