comfort me Set in a small town in south central Oklahoma, Comfort Me tells the story of three teenagers, Malachi "Mally" Jacobs, Randy Edom, and Joanie Tibbits, who find comfort in their unlikely friendship.  But it's a comfort that comes at a price.  Randy's best friend, Red, harbors a jealousy that goes deeper than the loss of a football buddy, leaning him to ever more violent bullying of Mally.  Randy's initially abrasive run-ins with Joanie blossom into romance, but he eventually uncovers betrayals that underlie her seemingly perfect family.  And Joanie's efforts to bring Mally out of his shell seem on a collision course with her hopes for a steady boyfriend.

Therefore, writer, Louis Flint Ceci, would like to get in touch with the faculty advisors for Gay Straight Alliance organizations in local high schools, or with local high school English teachers. His hope is to give the book to a small group of high school/young adult readers, and then ask for their feedback. If an English teacher is interested in this project, he also has a discussion guide questions which may be of use (Mr. Ceci was a high school English teacher myself).

National PFLAG Scholarship
Deadline- March 13th

8 ball

On behalf of PFLAG National, I am pleased to announce the sixth annual Scholarships Program. What better ways to show our commitment to students than to provide support for role models and pioneers around the country that are making schools safer for all students?  We also have a chance to honor students in places that are not always supportive and who are taking the first steps to their own future in the LGBT community. This year there will be up to three $5000, three  $2500, and ten $1000 scholarships awarded.

Please remember the National PFLAG scholarship is not in competition with local scholarships. Candidates are eligible to win both and we all should encourage students to apply for both your local and the national scholarship

The application process and eligibility requirements are stated on the application form and on the PFLAG website or click on the Application link.

You may visit the San Jose/Peninsula Chapter website at to print an application and to read more PFLAG.

"On March 5th, the CA Supreme Court will be hearing the first oral arguments for the case to overturn Prop 8. Opponents have already made threats to remove judges who vote to repeal this undeniably discriminatory proposition. We MUST voice our support for the judges and stance against Prop H8.

Please take some time out of your busy schedule to do something amazing and stand among thousands of others UNITED against HATE and BIGOTRY on MARCH 5th."
