Changes at the Humane League
The Humane League would like to announce that former Humane Officer, Danielle Ball, has been named Director of Operations. Former Vice President of Operations, Kerry Flanagan, left the League at the end of December to take a position as Executive Director of the Delaware County SPCA. Other staffing changes include Miranda Troccoli being named Administrative Manager and Jenna Alexander moving from Assistant Kennel Manager to Kennel Manager.
tortoise 2Fred and Ethel have safely arrived at their new home in Arizona. The two tortoises were rescued from an illegal breeder last year and were cared for in a Humane League foster home. Because they thrive in an area with a desert climate, League employees undertook an exhaustive search to find the best home for the tortoises. We were able to locate a woman in Tuscon, Arizona who has experience with Sulcotta Tortoises and she gladly offered to adopt them. Thanks to your donations, Humane League volunteers were tortoises in boxable to build a special enclosure for Fred and Ethel to safely travel in as they flew to Arizona in a heated cargo hold on Continental Airlines. Humane Officer Danielle Ball has spoken to Fred and Ethel's new "mom," who reports that they are doing well and enjoying the hot, sunny weather in Arizona. Thank you to everyone who donated to make it possible for Fred and Ethel to have a new lease on life!
Elf in fosterElf came to the Humane League shortly before the Christmas holiday after Lancaster City police had to cut off a padlock to remove him from a locked storage unit. The five month old puppy was suffering from malnutrition, a torn ear, and a broken tail. We are happy to report that Elf is thriving in his foster home! He is gaining weight and loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home. Elf is working on housebreaking and learning basic obedience commands until he is healthy enough to be neutered as a final step in getting ready for adoption. Become a fan of the Humane League on facebook to catch additional updates about how Elf is doing!
