Call for papers for the peer-reviewed academic track

Authors are invited to submit full-text academic papers, approximately 5000 words in length and relevant to the themes and subject matter of the conference, for the peer-reviewed academic track at GISSA Ukubuzana 2012.

Academic papers must be original and previously unpublished, and must be submitted using the on-line paper submission system for the academic track.

Papers submitted for the academic track will be selected on the basis of significance, relevance, correctness, originality and clarity by a panel of academic reviewers following a double-blind peer-review process.

Upon acceptance, the revised peer-reviewed full academic paper will be published with an ISBN in the printed Proceedings of the GISSA Ukubuzana 2012 Conference (ISBN 978-0-620-52913-6), as well as on the conference CD and website. A 30-minute slot (25 minutes with 5 minutes for Q & A) will be allocated at the conference to present the paper.

Authors of a selected number of high-quality papers will be invited to submit an extended version of their paper to the South African Journal of Geomatics which is approved by the Department of Higher Education.

Call for general papers, short papers & poster papers

 

Authors are invited to submit full-text general papers, short papers and poster papers of approximately 3000 words, 1000 to 2000 words, and 1000 to 5000 words, respectively, relevant to the themes and subject matter of the conference.

General papers, short papers and poster papers should be original and previously unpublished in South Africa, and must be submitted using the on-line abstract submission system for general papers, short papers and poster papers.

General papers, short papers and poster papers submitted for presentation at GISSA Ukubuzana 2012 will be selected on the basis of significance, relevance, correctness, originality and clarity following a peer-review process by the GISSA Ukubuzana 2012 general paper, short paper and poster paper committee.

Call for presenters of training workshops

Commercial training

Vendors of GIS, ICT, GPS, surveying, remote sensing and location-based business products, systems and services are invited to host and present commercial training workshops for Training streams 1 and 2 on Day 2 and 3 of GISSA Ukubuzana 2012.

Non-commercial training 
Non-commercial organisations, academia, postgraduate and undergraduate students are invited to present non-commercial training and knowledge transfer sessions, project presentations and short papers for Training stream 3 on Day 2 and 3 of GISSA Ukubuzana 2012.
 

 

Showcase your technology, application and solutions at the GISSA Ukubuzana 2012 training workshops, and use your classroom skills to lead a group of attendees through your chosen topic(s). Without being prescriptive, click here for some suggested topics aligned with the general theme of GISSA Ukubuzana 2012.

Special conference price for presenters

The presenter of a training workshop (one presenter per workshop) may attend the conference on the day of the workshop free-of-charge, and may attend the full conference at the reduced price of R3200 + VAT.
