Moving dirt more competitively requires the ability to move and manage data efficiently across your job sites. And, without the right technology, the road can be a rough one...

At Trimble Construction Live you will learn how to make technology work in the dirt - by actually building a short road and constructing a platform.

The demonstration will be using excavators, dozers and motor graders all fitted with grade control technology, compactors fitted with intelligent compaction control systems, an asphalt paver using sonic averaging beams, and mini-machines all fitted with lasers.

All the machines and survey equipment will be connected LIVE to the site office via a Trimble Connected Site for two-way data communication.

A new VisionLink solution will be launched, and you will be shown how to maximize the productivity of your plant through providing near real-time equipment performance information such as: Machine Health and Maintenance, Fuel Management and Work Utilization.

Leading machine suppliers have provided fantastic support for the event, and have donated plant on which to demonstrate the latest in construction technology. These suppliers will also be participating at the event by exhibiting many of their other machines and products and will be available to provide additional information.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Decision makers involved with earthworks and construction, including CEOs and owners, contracts directors/managers, plant directors/managers, civil engineers, estimators, site agents, site supervisors, production managers, construction surveyors, data managers, general foreman, earthworks foreman, plant owners/ and operators.

A high-profile Chinese delegation, led by Wang Zhixuan, secretary general of the China Electricity Council (CEC), will be participating at Energex Africa to explore opportunities with local partners in Africa's energy sector. CEC is a consolidated organisation of all China's power enterprises and institutions, with over 1440 members. These include organisations in the area of power generation, transmission and distribution. Their offerings range from conventional thermal and hydro power generation to renewable energy such as wind and solar power.

China is a dominant energy-equipment exporter, and is the world's largest market for power equipment. The Chinese government spent $45-billion in 2009 to upgrade the country's electricity grid.

China's dominance in the renewable energy sector is undisputed. In 2009, the country trumped sector rivals to become the world's largest producer of wind turbines and solar panels, and this dominance is set continue.

Three of the world's top ten industrial wind turbine manufacturers are Chinese, with turbines now in the 1,5 - 2 MW class. There are over 80 domestic wind turbine manufacturers in China. The country is now also the largest manufacturer of solar panel systems, supplying almost 40% of solar PV worldwide in 2009.

South Africa's recent admission into BRICS is creating unprecedented opportunities for closer co-operation with the economic super power. President Jacob Zuma visited China in April, where he attended a BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) Leaders' Summit. The China Development Bank announced at the summit that it will channel $1,5-billion to China's BRICS partners to fund infrastructure projects.

"Africa's trade with China has increased by more than 1000% in just over a decade," says John Thomson, Managing Director of Exhibition Management Services, organisers of Energex Africa. "China has now surpassed Germany as South Africa's number one trading partner."

In a joint statement by the BRICS Business Forum 2011, BRICS leaders advocate the implementation of sustainable energy strategies, diversification of energy generation, stabilisation of resource supply, and the development of energy-saving and emission reduction technologies.

Energex Africa will host two free 'Business Opportunity' sessions (7 and 8 June 2011) with the Chinese delegation to enable local industry representatives to gain a broader insight of the latest developments in the Chinese energy sector.

"These sessions are designed to give local energy companies the opportunity to interact face-to-face with leaders in the Chinese energy sector," says Thomson. "Not only will participants learn more about what China has to offer the local industry, but they can interact directly with Chinese stakeholders and identify all potential opportunities for closer co-operation."
